Tournament Rules and Procedures

Weather and Field Assignments
All games will be played as scheduled.  We reserve the right to change field assignments, if necessary (i.e. Weather), at the discretion of the Tournament Director.  All coaches should check in at the tournament table one hour prior to your first match of the day.  Check for updates on the master scoreboard at the tournament table.

Facilities
Public restrooms are available at the fields and at the adjacent recreation center/ gym.  A snack bar will on site on Saturday, run by GBHS Girls Soccer supporters.  Free parking adjacent to all fields.  

Uniforms
The team listed first on the schedule will be the “home team”  The home team will wear white/ light jersey, have choice of sideline, and will provide 3 game balls.  The “visiting team” will wear dark jerseys.

Games
Varsity matches will be thirty-minute halves with running time with a five-minute halftime.  The Championship Game will have a ten-minute halftime.  JV matches will be thirty minute halves with running time and a five minute halftime.  The JV Championship Game will have a ten minute halftime.  If at game time a team cannot field seven players, a forfeit is declared.  Games must run on time, and referees are instructed to shorten matches by a few minutes to get back on schedule.  Every team is guaranteed three matches with a maximum of four.  

Tie Breaking Procedures
Pool Play- A 10 point system will be used for the pool play games:
Win= 6 pts.
Loss= 0 pts.
Tie= 3pts.
Shutout= 1 pt.
One point for every goal scored, up to 3 per game.
Standings tie breaker will go as follows:  Head to head, least goals against, most goals scored, goal differential, head to head goal differential, most total wins, most shutouts, least red cards, and least yellow cards.  If after all tiebreakers are exhausted and two teams are still tied, then a PK contest on an available field will be utilized. 
Bracket Play- Consolation matches may end in a tie after regulation play.  If any of the following games ends in a tie after regulation time, then a penalty kick contest will determine the winner.  Any eligible player on the roster may kick (except those ejected/ suspended for that game).  A coin toss will determine which team kicks first (winner’s choice).  Each team takes five kicks from the mark alternately.  (High school rules apply for PK contest).

Sportsmanship/ Yellow & Red Cards
A player receiving a yellow card must be substituted for immediately.  That player may return to the match the next time that a substitution may be made by her team.  A player/coach receiving a red card may not participate in the next match.  If a player/ coach is ejected in their last game of the tournament, their suspension will carry over into their team’s next contest.  A player ejected for fighting will be suspended for the remainder of the tournament.  

Awards
Awards ceremony will begin immediately after the Championship Match.  The Perpetual Cup will be awarded to the Tournament Champion.  A team trophy will be awarded to the Finalist team.  Individual awards for the Tournament Champions and Finalists will be awarded (up to 20).  A tournament MVP and 13 All-Tournament players will be selected by the coaches.  The MVP and All-Tournament players will receive an individual award as well recognition in the Coaches Association Newsletter.
